![]() Byron WilsonByron Wilson was known for his strong sculptural forms, innovative use of materials, and highly primitivized abstractions. Using dental tools to fabricate pieces, he was one of the first jewelers to experiment with silver combined with wood, bone and ivory. A founding member of the San Francisco Metal Arts Guild, Wilson taught at California College of Arts and Crafts for 26 years. His work was exhibited widely throughout the west coast and he was presented with numerous awards such as first prize in the Pacifica Exhibition, the Art Commission Purchase Award at the San Francisco Art Festival in 1955, and an award of Merit in "Designer Craftsman of the West" at the DeYoung Museum in San Francisco. |
