Statement
"[Objects of Status, Power and Adornment] gave me an opportunity to explore the possibilities of working with gems since I usually do not work with them. . . With the gold market being what it is I looked for an alternative approach of working. I incorporated the garnets and other gems with silicone, a material with which I recently have been experimenting.
"I believed it would be an interesting combination due to the unconventionality of the materials. Incorporating the gold leaf with the silicone allowed the surfaces of the necklaces and brooches to have their golden glow but utilize much less gold and allow for much more flexibility. What was revealed from this integration was an interesting dialogue between precious and non-precious materials."
