Alexandra Watkins Statement:
I am eclectic in my work. There is, however, a constant preoccupation with volume and more specifically with enclosed space.

I have focused here for this exhibit on many different ideas for bracelets while my necklaces are mini love affairs with crystals or pearls.

The resulting designs are either more architectural or organic depending on the inherent nature of the materials I use.

EXPLORATION

• fresh green leaves emerging in the early spring

• a powerful river current sweeping leaves downstream

• leaves being held in a nest of vines after the strong winds of a storm have subsided

• a skeletal leaf hanging, pendant-like, just before the first snow storm
  

In anticipation of this exhibition, these were some of the images which drew my interest and fueled my exploration. My love of color, texture, and the natural world resonates in this work.
